Offer for Access Card Holders – up to £15 for your first ride with Uber

In partnership with Uber, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting promotion for Access Card holders. Uber – the popular rides booking app – has expanded the availability of their accessible option and we’re giving Access Card holders a code to redeem up to £15 off their first trip.

Wheelchair users in eight cities across the UK can book an accessible licensed private hire vehicle through the uberACCESS option on the Uber app.

This expansion builds on Uber’s ASSIST option for those with reduced mobility which is now available in 15 cities across the UK.

uberACCESS – wheelchair accessible vehicles

Available in Birmingham, Bradford, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle & Wolverhampton.

Wheelchair adapted vehicles allow you to secure your chair using four-point restraints.

Rear-loading vehicles ensure easy access and means riders are always facing forwards.

ACCESS trips have an average wait time of just 20 minutes.

Fares are the same price as a trip via Uber’s affordable uberX option.

uberACCESS drivers are top-rated and have received Disability Equality Training from Transport for All. All drivers who use the Uber app are licensed for private hire by a local authority and have completed the same DBS background check as black cabs.

uberASSIST

The relationship between the Access Card and Uber was inspired by work undertaken by the Extra Costs Commission – a commission which examined the extra costs faced by disabled people and looked at suggested ways of reducing the gap.

Martin Austin, Managing Director of Nimbus Disability, The company behind the card said;

“Our ambition with the Access Card scheme is to have a real social impact for our card holders; to introduce them to things they’ve never done and places they’ve never been – what better way to do that than to work with Uber”

“If, in the process, we can save them a little money and help contribute to reducing the extra costs faced by disabled people that that’s an obvious bonus”
