Overview
The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre commenced building in January 2007 and the curtain rose for its inaugural performance on March 18th 2010 with The Russian State Ballet featuring stars from the Bolshoi performing Swan Lake. Since opening, we have entertained half a million theatre goers every year, presenting something for everyone via a very diverse programme of theatrical experiences to meet everyone's passion and interests including ballets, musicals, family shows, drama, concerts, comedy, orchestral and opera.

Access guidance
- The theatre has facilities on multiple levels, all accessible via flat access or lifts. Staff are available at all events to assist and make your experience enjoyable. Refreshments / merchandise and the box office are all popular and may involve queuing during peak times, staff are available to assist with those who cannot stand for long periods of time.
- A range of accessible wheelchair seating options. The theatre is located in the docklands area of the city and is easily reached using public transport which is wheelchair accessible. Parking is located directly below the theatre, and wheelchair spaces can be reserved at www.q-park.ie. Also see www.accessdublin.ie for a list of on street accessible parking bays. There is level entry to the theatre. There is full wheelchair access by lift to all levels in the theatre. The lift is large and will very comfortably accommodate a powered wheelchair user and accompanying person. A range of accessible wheelchair seating options are located in the Stalls, Upper Circle and Selected Boxes for people who remain seated in their wheelchair during the performance and also for people who prefer to transfer from their wheelchair to a theatre seat. As there can be a large demand for these seats we recommend that you book as early as possible.
- A drop off point is available on Misery Hill directly outside of the theatre, there is also a car park located underground with lift access to the main entrance. Inside the foyer it is a short walk to the box office, bars and the main auditorium.
- Accessible toilets are located on every level and at multiple key locations. We also have a First Aid Room on Level -1 with a flat bed for use in an emergency or for patron's access needs.
- Assistance dogs are welcome in the venue, please be advised that certain performances may have loud music and/or sound affects such as gun shots etc. and therefore it is at the discretion of the owner to consider the safety of the dog. If requested we can arrange a dog sitting service during the performance in a safe area of the theatre where water and access outdoors will be provided. Please make our box office staff aware of any requirements for your visit at the time of booking.
- Concessionary tickets for people who have access needs and their assistants may be available on certain performances. Please ask at the time of booking.
- We have priority seating within the front five rows in the Stalls, if required, for people who have a visual impairment, subject to availability. As there can be a large demand for these seats we recommend that you book as early as possible.
- Assisted Performances are available for certain shows, including Open Captions and ISL (Irish Sign Language).
