Wheelchair Access

Wheelchairs can be hired from the House or Visitor Infomation in the Courtyard. There are five wheelchairs available to hire daily.

Wheelchair users can access the State Floor using a wheelchair lift at the front of the House. We also have a wheelchair lift Below Stairs. Wheelchair users can access the Terrace Tearoom is via the Terrace Garden, with the use of a wheelchair ramp.

The Bird Garden is positioned on a natural slope. Due to one-way routes in place at present, please be aware that the Bird Garden exit is located at the bottom of a steep slope. There is a shuttle stop at the exit of the Bird Garden if you need any mobility assistance.

Short distance
We run a volunteer-led complimentary shuttle service for those requiring mobility assistance. The shuttle can take you from the main entrance to the House, Courtyard, Bird Garden, and the Church. If you would benefit from using this service, please ask a member of staff or follow on-site signage. We ask that visitors wear masks while using the shuttle service.

Harewood’s Ferry allows access to the Walled Garden from the Bird Garden in under ten minutes. We ask that visitors ring 0113 218 1000 prior to their visit to check whether the Ferry is running.
