"Opening her doors on November 7, 1914, as Britain was teetering on the brink of World War 1, Hyde Park Picture House rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in to the war effort by screening patriotic dramas and epic adventures to distract from the realities of war, and newsreels to relay vital information to the 'folk back home'."

Access Card notes
Access Card with '+1' symbol accepted as proof for a free essential companion ticket. "Join our free Access Membership Scheme so we can ensure you have the best experience possible. "Throughout 2020, we will be carrying out extensive redevelopment works at the Picture House, including ramped access to the main entrance, an accessible toilet on ground level, and a lift providing wheelchair access to multiple levels of the building. The cinema plans to re-open its doors at the start of 2021, following these improvements."
Access guidance
- Step-free access to the main auditorium and foyer is available via a side entrance. Please let a member of staff know upon arrival if you need to use this entrance. We have 3 wheelchair spaces in the main auditorium; 1 back left, 1 front left and 1 front right; to reserve one, please call 0113 275 2045. Unfortunately, none of our toilets have step-free access.
- For customers with physical access requirements, who would like to park as close as possible to the cinema, please get in touch and we can reserve you a space along the paved area directly outside of the building (usually reserved for staff parking).
- If you require an essential companion to accompany you to the theatre, we request that person comes with you to the familiarisation visit and we ask that they be a minimum of 14 years of age.
- For visitors who are blind/visually impaired, we offer an Audio Description facility.
- On Mondays, we regularly hold fully subtitled Captioned Screenings for visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- We run semi-regular Memory Matinee screenings, helping those living with dementia – and their friends and family – to visit the cinema. These screenings are currently held between Hyde Park Picture House and Rose's Tea Bar in HEART, Headingley. On the third Sunday of every month, our Autism Friendly Screenings provide a safe environment for those on the autism spectrum.
