Overview
"The Old Royal Naval College is one of London's most popular visitor attractions, at the heart of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, welcoming 1.2m visitors annually. We have a large outdoor site and indoor Visitor Centre and Chapel which are all part of our free offer as well as a Baroque dining room and tours which are part of our paid offer."
Access Card notes
"Our site is over 300 years old, and was not designed then with accessibility in mind, however we have made significant adaptations (considering the historic site) to make the site more accessible physically - including 3 (soon to be 4) lifts on site. Disabled carers/companions currently go free - so the Access Card would give some peace of mind for visitors whose disability is not visible."
Access guidance
- We have a quick and efficient till system, so rarely have people waiting for long. However, we are able to provide chairs if needed.
- We have 3 lifts onsite to give access to areas which have lots of steps. 2 of these lifts require staff support. We have disabled toilets onsite if needed. The site is large and some outside areas remain difficult to access.
- Our site is large (109.5 hectares) so can be difficult to traverse. Our on site partner (Visit Greenwich) is able to provide wheelchairs to visitors. Much of our site can be seen in a small area (The Visitor Centre).
- We have disabled toilets in 4 areas across our site.
- Guide dogs are accommodated in all our buildings, with large lawn areas. Water bowls can be found near the Visitor Centre.
- Carers/Essential companions get free entry with a paying visitor.
- Key information in our offer is available via Braille.
- Our multimedia guide has an audio description option. For groups requiring specific access you can contact access@ornc.org to arrange sign language interpreters or audio described tours.
