Spaces for wheelchair patrons and an enabler are located in The Lyric, The Drum and The Lab. Seats are exclusively available up until two weeks prior to the performance, for patrons who require them. To get the best seating position which will meet your needs please share as much information as possible about your seating requirements with the sales advisor at the time of booking. There is a lift to each floor, including down to The Lab; and ramps for specific areas which use to be stairs. In addition, the café, bars and box office all have counter areas which are lowered

The Theatre Royal Car Park is located to the rear of the theatre. This car park has 22 disabled spaces and 2 dementia friendly spaces. This car park supplies a ticket on arrival and has accessible payment machines, one of which is located in the theatre.
The Civic Car Park is located adjacent to the theatre. It has 9 disabled spaces. This car park is a pay and display, short stay car park for up to 3 hours. Payments can be made at the machine with coins or over the phone with a debit or credit card.
Taxi/ drop off and pick up point is located to the rear of the theatre and is a short distance from the main entrance to the Theatre Royal Plymouth. For patrons with limited mobility, if you require any assistance getting to and from your car or taxi please let sales staff know at the time of your booking.
Post Show – Our Front of House team are happy to arrange a taxi for those who may need one, please ask.

We have accessible toilets on all four floors. All toilets contain one large cubicle fitted with hand rails, emergency pull alarms and outward opening doors. A radar key is required for all access toilets apart from the one on the ground floor, if you require a key please ask a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Assistance dogs are welcome in all our performance spaces or can be looked after by the theatre management. On booking your tickets please inform staff and they can advise on the best seats to accommodate you and make arrangements for the care of your dog if required.

For our specific access seating map please see the download map to the left of this page. Concessionary tickets are available for some of our performances; if you feel that you are eligible for a concession please ask when booking.

For patrons who are unable to attend performances unless accompanied; upon purchase of a ticket, an additional enabler seat is available for most shows, free of charge and subject to availability. These tickets need to be requested at the time of booking as they cannot be added retrospectively.

We produce a large print and audio brochure which is available to collect from Box Office or can be requested via info@theatreroyal.com. Appropriate seats for the use of hearing enhancers; captioned, audio described and signed performances are also held and are exclusively available for patrons wishing to enjoy these performances, up until two weeks prior to the performance. Audio Descriptions – are broadcast live as the performance is taking place and are accessed via a standard headset which is linked to our inferred system in the auditorium. The describer will set the scene by describing set details, costumes and visual characteristics; as well as keeping you informed as to what is taking place on the stage as it happens.
Headsets can be collected free of charge from Box Office a maximum of 1 hour prior to the performance. Please ask a member of staff on arrival
Program notes for audio described performances will be available two days before the performance and are available to download from our website, on the relevant show page.

Touch Tours – offer patrons an opportunity to enjoy a sensory experience of exploring props, costumes, characters and sets close up. Access to the stage and set before a performance is a way of embedding program notes and audio descriptions. It provides patrons with extra detail of the performance, enabling them to fully engage with what is happening on the stage. Touch tours usually last approximately 30 minutes and are ticketed for specific shows. However if there is not one available for your preferred show, please ask, as on some occasions these can be arranged for individuals upon special request.

Appropriate seats for the use of hearing enhancers; captioned, audio described and signed performances are also held and are exclusively available for patrons wishing to enjoy these performances, up until two weeks prior to the performance. Hearing enhancers – are free of charge and can be used in The Lyric and The Drum. The specialist equipment amplifies what is being said on the stage, via an infrared system which can be picked up in specific areas of the auditoriums. This service uses either a standard headsets or a personal loop system which can be linked to most hearing aids. When booking your tickets, please let Box Office know if you plan to borrow a headset, as they can advise you on the best seats to receive a strong signal.

Headsets and personal hearing loops can be collected near Box Office a maximum of 1 hour prior to the performance. Please ask a member of staff on arrival.

Captioning – all dialogue from the performance is displayed on 2 screens located on either side of the stage. The captions include sound effects as well as the character’s name, and are produced to synchronise with the actor’s delivery, thus enabling patrons to follow the dialogue as it is spoken.

British Sign Language Interpreted Performances – Several of our longer running shows are BSL interpreted. A BSL interpreter will stand on the stage and give a sign interpretation of the text sung or spoken by the actors and singers on the stage. The signer will usually stand stage left.
